Nissan Silvia S15

Nissan had many generations of Silvia. The car is based on discontinued S- platform. Nissan Silvia is a competitor for affordable coupes like Mazda MX-6Toyota CelicaMitsubishi Eclipse, and Honda Integra.

Today We will focus on S15, the last of the  Silvia line. This car was available only in Japan, Australia and New Zeland.

Last generation of s chassis was powered by SR20DE (2.0 liter, 165 hp) or SR20DET (2.0 liter, turbocharged, 250hp) engine. It could have been ordered in configuration with automatic or manual gearbox.

Silvia was available in for main variants:

  • Spec S SR20DE Naturally aspirated engine with 165 hp with 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic gearbox

  • Spec R SR20DET turbocharged engine with 250 hp with 6-speed manual or 4-speed automatic gearbox

  • Autech- SR20DE Naturally Aspirated with power increased to 200 hp, 6-speed manual gearbox

  • Varietta – Silvia cabrio version made by autech. Only SR20DE were available with 5-s speed manual or 4-speed automatic

In Japan there were thousands of variants to be chosen from when buying a car directly from a dealer.

Funfact: S15 were produced with steering wheel on the left side as “Arex Elite 951” for Philippines and Taiwanese market.
